Web Design and Development I

Course Descriptions:

This course aims to give students the basic concepts of web technologies and web development, through classroom learning and practical work in the computer lab. It will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop both static and interactive web applications using web development tools and languages. It will also cover web design as a process and how it can be used to produce good, user-friendly, standards-compliant web sites.

Objective:

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:-

  1. define and describe internet
  2. describe the HTTP protocol’s internal working principles
  3. differentiate XHTML from HTML and be able to use both to create pages
  4. list basic HTML tags and use them
  5. understand the usage of CSS for web design
  6. create a template for website management
  7. understand and use client side scripting using java script
  8. describe the DOM model
  9. introduce to server side scripting including JSP, ASP and PHP
